In-situ Treatment of PFAS

2024-03-27T13:32:41-05:00

The airport tested the AFFF nozzle system every 6 months into grassy areas along the air strip. Across from the injection site, there are 9 potential release locations where PFAS may have been utilized including hangars, fire stations, storage areas, and firefighting equipment testing areas. ORIN identified an approximate 1,600 sq-ft area to perform

Wastewater Treatment of PFAS

2024-03-04T12:15:09-06:00

Rinse water from fire trucks containing PFAS fire fighting foam was stored in four totes. The totes were then subjected to treatability testing and monitoring over a period of 26 weeks. ORIN used these totes to test two bioremediation strategies. Totes 1, 3, and 4 were treated with a combination of BAM and aerobic

BAM Injection PFAS

2024-03-04T12:15:18-06:00

ORIN conducted a pilot test to treat groundwater contaminated with PFAS using BAM, a pyrolized cellulosic material. BAM was mixed with water and injected through 46 DPT points encompassing PZ-1 and MW-5. A total of 4,445 gallons of BAM solution was injected through the 46 points. During injection activities, BAM was observed in PZ-1.

BAM Soil Mix PFAS

2024-03-04T12:15:36-06:00

ORIN conducted a pilot test to treat soil contaminated with PFAS using BAM, a pyrolized cellulosic material. BAM was applied directly to contaminated soils and thoroughly mixed with an excavator. Soil was mixed in-situ. A baseline TCLP analysis was not taken thus the pre-treatment number used is from the treatability study done on soils

BAM Booms Treating PFAS

2024-03-04T12:15:48-06:00

ORIN conducted a pilot test to treat PFAS impacted surface water flowing through collection vaults using BAM filled booms (8” diameter) and pillows (6” thick). The booms were customized to fit the dimensions of the vault for maximum BAM / surface water contact. BAM booms were placed into the vault and passive flow surface

BAM Injection Chlorinated Solvents

2024-03-04T12:16:31-06:00

ORIN successfully treated chlorinated solvent contaminated groundwater utilizing in-situ chemical injection. ORIN’s approach was to incorporate a barrier wall to stop migration off site, as well as hot spot treatment around MW-14. Approximately forty-eight injection points were designated as BAM Ultra points, while twenty injection points were designated as ABC+ points. The majority of

BAM and ABC+ Chlorinated Solvents

2024-03-04T12:17:02-06:00

ORIN conducted large scale treatment of groundwater contaminated with chlorinated solvents using BAM, a pyrolized cellulosic material, and ABC+, a soybean EVO mixed with zero valent iron. BAM was mixed with water and injected through 14 DPT points and ABC+ was mixed with water and injected through 6 DPT points encompassing MW-04 and MW-07.

BAM and ABC+ Treating PCE Plume

2024-03-04T12:11:13-06:00

The subsurface beneath a currently busy, multi-business structure is delineated as the source area for impacted groundwater. The soil matrix is predominantly silt. Remedial DPT injections targeted migrating plumes emerging from the source area. ORIN first conducted a pilot test around MW-3 and MW-4, proving the effectiveness of the combined treatment chemistries. BAM was

Ex-Situ Soil Mixing—Chlorinated Solvents

2024-03-04T12:17:30-06:00

ORIN successfully treated contaminated unsaturated soils using BAM treatment material in conjunction with chemical oxidation while simultaneously mixing soils with an excavator. Contaminant odor was detected throughout the project. A grab soil sample was measured with a PID at 2,900ppm. Free product was also observed during the project. Approximately 1,400 cubic yards of soil

Ex-Situ Soil Mix Chlorinated Solvents

2024-03-04T12:17:51-06:00

ORIN treated highly contaminated unsaturated soils using a combination of advanced oxidation treatment chemistry and bio-available absorbent media (BAM). The chemistries were applied separately and mixed into the soils with a modified excavator. Approximately 9,120 cubic yards of soil were treated ex-situ within contained treatment pits of 4-ft thickness. The treatment zone was excavated
